Soccer, game 1, Luke's bad day.

So two of my three sons are on the same youth soccer team this year. My boys are 6 and 4, but both playing in the kindergarten league. This week was the first game.
Luke, my 4 year old was so stoaked to play. He's been looking forward to soccer since last year when he just watched his brother Jack play.
Well it's game 1, and they're playing another group of rambunctious kids. Luke is running after a ball (with the rest of the heard), when out of nowhere this other kid blindsides him and puts him on the ground. This was no ordinary kid. I can only gently describe him as a spastic, out-of-control, freakshow. I'll call him freakshow for short. Freakshow was running around in circles, even when the game was stopped, definitely screaming for attention.
Well freakshow's coaches keep trying to point him in the right direction, but he still doesn't get the point. Then after a ball went out of bounds, Luke was standing in the middle of the field, when freakshow puts two hands and a shoulder in Luke's back and sends him flying to the ground. Luke is in tears as his coach called for a sub. He came over and sat with me and said "Dad, I don't wanna play soccer no more." Needless to say, I wanted to walk over and make freakshow walk home with three shoes, two on his feet, one up his...
So Luke decided he was done for the night, but all is well. This morning was game 2, and he played and had fun. He even accidentally kicked the ball a couple of times. So he is rehabilitated from his injuries. Thanks to big brother Jack, he had someone to hide behind if things got rough in the kindergarten soccer league.

First and Ten

Well here we go. I know, I know blogging is something my wife does to keep in touch with people she hasn't spoken to in ten minutes, but I thought it might be a fun way to vent from time to time. Plus by setting up a blogger account I can post responses on the tribune web site and make people angry.... now that's fun.
My wife says I can post stuff on her blog anytime I want, but let's be serious. I think I should let that be "her thing" and not interfere... besides our tastes are a bit different.
As for the name, "cover three defense" refers to a football defensive scheme. The safeties split, and the middle linebacker drops deep. Each of them cover a third of the field. This takes away the long ball and lets you essentially double cover three receivers. Enough football nerd talk. I chose the name because we're constantly trying to play defense against our three rough-n-tough little boys. Camille and I are outnumbered so we have to play zone!
